Tres Agaves Tequila

Tres Agaves is a premium, award-winning, 100% blue agave tequila bottled by a family-owned distillery in Jalisco, Mexico.  I had the pleasure of trying this tequila at a recent tasting and needless to say, I went home with a bottle.  The flavor is so crisp and when paired with the Tres Agave Margarita Mix (delicioso!) you have the perfect margarita in seconds.  The company also produces an organic Agave Nectar which serves as the perfect sweetener to your margarita or any other cocktail.  The lo-cal Agave Nectar contains no high fructose corn syrup and was awarded a score of 90/100 by the Beverage Tasting Institute.

Here’s a classic recipe to try using the Tres Agave Blanco Tequila:

Tequila Sunrise

Fill a highball glass with ice then add

1oz Tres Agaves Blanco Tequila

2oz Orange Juice

Top with approx 1/4oz Grenadine

Garnish with an orange wheel and maraschino cherry and enjoy!

Hendrick’s Gin

Hendrick's Gin

A curious concoction of cucumber and rose… Yum!

Gin is an acquired taste, so either you are a gin person or you are not, rarely does one vacillate on this subject.  I am a gin person and I LOVE Hendrick’s Gin.

I was first introduced to Hendrick’s while attending a function in the Flatiron district of Manhattan this past summer.  I tasted it in some cocktail with a name I dont remember.  I do recall the interesting flavor of the gin coming thru the otherwise fruity-type concoction, I was so intrigued that I had to inquire of our server the type of gin used in my drink.  Could it be something new?  It was Gin – yes but the smooth, subtle flavor was unusually distinct and unlike anything I’d ever tasted.  Of course, by the following weekend I managed to purchase a bottle and do some homework.

I was pleasantly surprised to find out Hendricks is produced in extremely small batches (450L) and has a delicious recipe of roots, fruits and herbs.  Here’s the interesting part – Are you ready?  Its infused with the flavors of cucumber and rose petals… yep, you read it correctly.  Cucumber and rose infused gin – absolutely divine.  I tip my hat to the master distiller, which happens to be a woman as her creation is extraordinary.
